Syracuse University is a different institution of higher learning dedicated to excellence in teaching and academic distinction, attracting students and supporting entrepreneurs and close cooperation and collaboration with local, national and global levels. Syracuse University students represent 50 states and more than 115 countries. Of the total population, 10 percent from foreign countries. Fall 2007 graduates of full-time, about 41 percent of New York (16 per cent of those enrolled full-time students are in New York City), 55 percent from other states, and 4 per cent from foreign countries. Of these, 56 percent of full-time students are women, 44 percent are men.

Accreditation is a process by which a professional organization, with the exception of evaluation of educational programs to ensure they meet national standards of quality and completeness. Syracuse University Master's and doctoral programs are fully accredited by accreditation bodies of the highest in professional counseling. The accreditation process is to determine appropriate preparation for the profession, and then an extensive independent study and evaluation of candidates for Counselor Education.
