Iowa Central Community College was established in 1966 with broad powers to offer a wide range of educational opportunities for residents in nine counties. Iowa Central was built on a solid foundation of three schools in the area, which operate from the 1920 public schools. Fort Dodge was established in 1921, in the town of Webster, 1926, and Eagle Grove, 1928. Iowa Central came into force after the Iowa School Zone Act passed 61-th General Assembly. The law allows two or more County school systems merged in the university community. Nine countries were combined to create the Central Iowa: Buena Vista, Calhoun, Greene, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, SAC, Webster and Wright. As a result, some joined in the zone of 28000 students in 31 school districts. In 1971, the fourth center was added to the completion of new construction in Storm Lake. Center of Storm Lake was originally created to serve the 12 public and private schools in the county of Buena Vista as a high school career. For many years, in the center of Storm Lake has been expanded and now offers a full range of programs the university community. In 1975, the Central Iowa joined the Buena Vista College in Storm Lake in the co-op, where students can get involved in evening classes. Students of the first two years were completed in the central Iowa and the last two years at Buena Vista, in the center of Fort Dodge.
