Measuring Your Skills

Academic testing and exams are designed to a specific standard to measure students skills and knowledge. A standardization maintains equal measurement for all against the same goal and the tests are more or less given in the same format every time.

The examinations and tests can be of various types including, MCQs, true/false, calculations or completely written in nature.

Two types of standardization tests are practiced in academia including:

2. Licensure/Certification Tests:

Academic tests and examinations are designed to test knowledge, skill and perception at many levels for many purposes.

In most cases these tests are utilized by colleges and universities as an admission perquisite as the scores of these tests consequently determine students admissions at a college or university program.

Certification tests on the other hand however measure one specific knowledge or skill area. Usually these tests are designed to test the knowledge of an individual over a particular vocation.

Preparation
In all cases, test preparation is vital to students success. Study guides, mock tests, and reading materials are always available for students to begin preparation.

What to expect
Candidates may take a traditional paper and pencil test, an internet-based exam, or a computer-based exam. The level of complexity depends on the subject being tested, but candidates can expect to spend 30 minutes to 3 hours or more representing your knowledge.
