DegreeBehavioral ScienceThe development of science curriculum in the United States took place gradually, after lengthy discussions between the two ideologies, citizen science and pre-professional training. Following the conference of 30 leading secondary and college teachers in Florida, the National Education Association appointed a Committee of Ten in 1892 with a mandate to organize future meetings and appoint committees of the subject matter of the main subjects taught in secondary schools in the United States. The Committee consists of ten teachers (all male) and chaired by Charles Eliot of Harvard University. Committee of Ten met, and appointed nine conference committees (Latin, Greek, English, other modern languages, mathematics, history, civil government and political economy, and three in science). |
