DegreeOnline XML & CSS ProgrammingCascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used to describe the semantics of the representation (ie, the appearance and formatting) a document written in markup language. The most common application to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML, but the language can be applied to any document in XML, including SVG and XUL. CSS is primarily intended to separate the document content (written in HTML or similar markup language) from the submission of documents, including elements such as layout, colors and fonts. This separation can improve content accessibility, provides more flexibility and control in the specification of presentation characteristics, allowing multiple pages on the proportion of the formatting, as well as reduce complexity and repetition in structural content (eg, allowing Tableless web design). CSS can also allow the same page layout, which will be presented in different styles, different imaging techniques, such as on screen, in print, by voice (when read out a speech-based browser or screen reader) and on Braille, tactile device. Although the author of the document, references, usually a document stylesheet CSS, readers may use different styles, perhaps, one on your computer to cancel one author has specified. CSS defines the priority scheme to determine the style rules apply if more than one rule matches against a particular element. In this so-called cascade, priorities or weights are calculated and established rules, so that the results are predictable. |
