In general use, a financial plan can be a budget plan for spending and saving future income. In this regard, future income is allocated to the various types of expenses such as rent and utilities, but also reserves some income for short-and long-term savings. The financial plan may also be an investment plan, which provides savings of various assets or projects for expected future income, such as a new business or product line, shares of an existing business or real estate.
In business, the financial plan may refer to the three main financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows), established under the business plan. Financial projections and financial plan can also refer to the annual projection of income and expenditure for the company, division or department. The financial plan may be an assessment of cash needs and the decision on how to raise funds, such as through borrowing or issuing additional shares in the company.
Although the financial plan refers to estimating future revenues, expenses and assets, financing plan and financial plan usually refers to the funds in which cash will be purchased to cover future expenses, such as on the basis of earnings, loans or using saved cash.
