Science (from the Latin "Scientia, meaning" knowledge ") is, in the broadest sense, any systematic knowledge or prescriptive practices that can lead to the prediction of type or a predictable result. In this sense, science can apply to highly skilled technology or practice.
In its more limited modern sense, science is a system of acquiring knowledge based on scientific method, as well as organized body, gained in such studies. This article focuses on the more restrictions on the use of the word. Science as described in this article is sometimes called an experimental science to differentiate it from applied science, which is the application of research to specific human needs, although as a rule, the two intertwined.
Science continues its efforts to detect and increase human knowledge and understanding through disciplined study. The use of controlled, scientists gather evidence observable physical or social phenomena, the record measurable data associated with the observations, and analyze this information to construct a theoretical explanation of how these things work. Methods of research include the generation of hypotheses about how the phenomenon of work and experiments that test these hypotheses in controlled conditions. Researchers are also expected to publish their information, so other scientists can do these experiments to re-examine their findings. The results of this process will better understand the events of the past, and better ability to predict future events of the same kind as those that have been tested.
