What factors can hinder you?
There are several factors that may come in your way. You need to be careful of these factors and take steps to overcome them.
1. Not enough information: Sometimes the decision making process may be hampered simply because you lack sufficient information. To overcome this, you need to know where you can obtain accurate information and guidance regarding your career path.
2. Not enough information: Sometimes the decision making process may be hampered simply because you lack sufficient information. To overcome this, you need to know where you can obtain accurate information and guidance regarding your career path.
3. Insufficient self-confidence: Sometimes you may not feel that you are confident enough to make such a critical decision. If this is the case, you can try to solve the problem by obtaining as much information as possible, consulting friends and family if necessary. Sometimes you may even opt for additional counseling. Be careful not to let your fear of making a bad decision wear you down and lead you to become irrational.
4. Conflict in values and interests: Perhaps one of your dreams may be conflicting with your value systems. You might want to earn a high salary, but at the same time the high salaries may be in a field which your values do not allow you to work in. When this happens, work on redefining either your value system or your goals.
5. Conflict with others: Sometimes your family or friends may not approve of your choice of major, or you might need to depend on them for financial support. Think about how you will deal with this, or recruit help from career counselors or advisors.
