Once students have proved their academic standing by completing a 4-year rigorous degree program, they are entitled to enroll in a Masters Level degree program. Master level programs are usually designed to provide students the room to research and analyze advance level theories and concepts about the subject matter.
Master degree programs are usually 2 to 3 year long with focus on original thesis writing, research and report writing. Students though are allowed to set their own courses and academic life. There are two types of masters degree programs offered in the United States. The M.A which is masters in Arts and M.S which masters in Science related subjects.

| What it leads to? |
Some masters degrees lead are terminal. This means that no further education is available. Examples of such degrees are M.A. in Fine arts.
Other Masters degrees either lead to a career directly or make the candidate qualify for the doctoral degree program. |
