As applications were developed that provided managers with information on sales, inventories and other information that will assist in the management of the enterprise, the term "Mis" emerged to describe this kind of applications. Today the term is widely used in different contexts and includes (but is not limited to): decision support systems, resources and people management applications, project management and database applications search.
