Exploring Graduate Programs That Suit Your Needs

As a professor emeritus WAC University, I receive a lot of questions, sometimes via email, and at other times during the seminars and conferences I attend. Almost all the students are asking me the same question, which is, “How do I make time for university as well as work?” Practically speaking, either you are working or you are a housewife, finding an educational program that suits your needs is a tough job.

But before you get going, you need to narrow down your choices. You need to ask yourself (and your family) some tough questions to determine your best fit:

Financial Questions:

Though online programs are pretty inexpensive as compared to the traditional programs, it is pretty essential to check out your budget limitations. You may also seek financial aids, loans or scholarships to fund your program or ask your company or sponsor if they can give you some monetary or compensatory aid as you do your number crunching.

Lifestyle Questions:

As a potential student you might want to ask yourself whether you might be able to balance the work-life balance at the same time. Though, online schools are known for giving their students mobility, exposure to a more diverse population of students and access, to the faculty from different locations. However, you online learning does not offer the networking opportunities as much as on-site learning does, making distance learning a poor choice for career switchers. Besides, if you are a very lively and interactive person, online learning might not be a very good match for you.

School's Reputation

Though there are myriads of options available when it comes to graduate schools, you'll have to sort out whether it is accredited to some reputable, international accrediting agency, such as ACOHE. Moreover, do some research by talking to some faculty members and alumni of the university and you'll actually get to find out the truth about the authenticity of the accreditation institute.

At the end, I would advise you to take the time to discover how you wish to go along with your university degree. Frame up you choices against your expectations in areas like career, lifestyle, financial issues, and curriculum, and you'll get to enter into some good graduate school.

Good Luck!
