Best Jobs For Fresh Graduates
It is a well known fact that companies are laying off employees and cutting down on recruitment. So where should fresh graduates, who lack experience, try their luck? While there is no clear roadmap right now, a guiding principle would be the level of experience or credentials required for a job. Bad choices for fresh graduates at this point would be the healthcare and education industries, even if these may be ranked as the best industries to work for during a recession. The principle reason for this is that these fields are mainly dominated by older workers, and fresh graduates are treated with skepticism. Also, in most of these industries, pay scales depend heavily upon degrees and certifications, which fresh graduates may not have had acquire.
So what would be a good choice for fresh graduates right now?
- Securities, Commodities, Equities and General Finance. Even though the financial industry is still unstable at this point, industry researchers have projected tremendous growth in the industry as baby boomers cash in on their retirement funds. Competition in the industry is tough, but the returns make it worth the effort.
- Security and International Affairs. Despite the fact that there will be a decline in government employment over the years, new employees will be required as older workers retire. This means there will be more openings to be filled.
- Oil and Gas Industry. If the prices of fuel continue to remain high, the profits of oil and gas firms will increase – translating into higher wages and employment. However, this equation works the other way too: A decline in fuel prices will result in a drop in wages and employment.
- Internet Publishing and Broadcasting. It has been predicted that there will be a decline in print media circulation as more and more people go online for their information needs. Because of this increase, the Internet Publishing and Broadcasting industry will offer promising job opportunities for fresh graduates.
